The Chinese lantern is a flowering plant with oval leaves and beautiful calyces that resemble a lantern. When the calyx withers, out comes the fruit – the start of something new. Designed by Riina Heinonen, Alku is a rich plant-themed pattern that is inspired by the idea of concealed beauty.

The Alku potholder’s practical stitched groove, running diagonally from corner to corner, provides a better grip and protects your hands from hot cookware. The comfortable and pliable wadding protects against high temperatures. The product’s CE marking indicates that it has been tested for adequate protection against contact heat. The potholder has a loop on its side. The set includes two potholders.

The potholder is made of 100% rib weave cotton, which is firm and rather thick. 50% of the cotton is recycled. We are always looking for substitutes for cotton and ways to increase the number of recycled materials we use.
