One elephant, two elephants, dozens of elephants… Colorful elephants have taken over the tunic sweatshirt. The neckline, straight hem, and cuffs have ribbing for added comfort. Relaxed, loose fit. There's room for the names of three children in the care label.

The Elefantti tunic sweatshirt is 95% cotton and 5% elastane. Cotton adds softness to the tunic, elastane adds the right amount of stretch.

The Arkismi collection was designed by the Finlayson team and Finnish everyday life. Part of good daily life is having clothes that make life as enjoyable as possible. Children's clothing must represent the cutting edge of product development. From the perspective of clothes, the everyday life of children is filled with many kinds of surprises. Therefore, the garments must withstand all kinds of twists and turns. For us at Finlayson, durable children’s clothes mean that the clothes are of high quality, easy to combine, comfortable to wear and easy to care for. We want to make children’s clothes that the child is comfortable in. The garment should also be easy to put on and take care of.

Story of the Elefantti pattern: Created by Laina Koskela in 1969, this pattern is the result of a design competition organized by Finlayson and the Helsinki Industrial Arts School. The idea for the pattern was born at the last minute, under pressure. Laina's mum had sewn a home-made stuffed toy for her brother. The toy had four legs, a trunk and hanging ears. With this toy in mind, Laina began to work on her idea of the design.

The Elefantti print fabric came to the market in Sweden in 1970, in Finland a couple of years later. The Elefantti pattern was then forgotten until 2013, when Finlayson took it back into production.

The Elefantti is one of Finlayson’s most beloved classics, both sympathetic and stylish. The recipe for the success of the charming Elefantti can be summed up in handmade lines, simplicity, universality, positivity and timelessness.
