Create a beautiful, natural table setting with a linen tablecloth. The Lino Chambray tablecloth is made from high-quality 100% linen, which makes it naturally ecological. Linen requires very little pesticides or irrigation. Linen is also a long-lasting material that does not pill but, in fact, will look even better and feel softer after each wash. The material of this tablecloth is chambray fabric made using a traditional plain weave with a white warp thread and coloured weft thread, which gives it a beautiful vivid mottled ingrain surface.
Wondering about the right size? The tablecloth is at its best when the drop is about 25–35 cm from the edge of the table.
To keep the colours bright, a gentle 30 degree washing cycle is recommended for Lino kitchen textiles. The product has been granted the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certificate, indicating that the product does not contain harmful chemicals and is safe to use.
The harmonious colours used in the Lino products are from Finlayson’s own colour palette. Finland is a country of a thousand colours, and the most important colours are engraved in our souls. Finlayson has started an ambitious mission to create a palette of these colours. The goal is to keep adding new colours to the colour palette to create a rich colour book over the years.
Every year, we send a photographer/explorer to document what they experience and see across the country. Each colour in the colour palette has a unique story – where and when it was captured, the exact geographical coordinates, weather conditions and recognisable place.
The renowned nature photographer Eeva Mäkinen was selected to capture the new colours to be added to the colour palette in autumn 2022. The Colours of Finland are featured in Finlayson’s Lino linen products and Uni sateen products. Even if a particular colour is no longer featured in our products, we still keep it as part of the colour palette. The red colour used in the Lino Chambray tablecloth was photographed in the village of Jaksamo in Posio on 16 February 2022 at 13:42:05. N 66° 27.8884, E 28° 38.9183.
The story of the photo: The weather in February was quite mild. For a while, it seemed like winter would come to an abrupt end. The night before the photo was taken, however, the temperature had fallen to below -10°C, and the landscape was snowy that morning. A rowan in the yard of a house in the village of Jaksamo in Posio still had berries on its branches left over from the autumn, and the berries were frosty after the cold night. It almost looked like the berries were frosted with sugar. The many different shades of red shone bright on that cloudy but cold day.
The area around the beautiful rowan was full of life. For two days that February, I followed the activity around the tree with my camera, watching willow tits flutter around the branches, eating the frozen rowanberries. I noticed that the birds kept flying to the same branches over and over again. I pointed my camera at one of the branches and waited for one of the willow tits to alight on it. In the end, my patience was rewarded.
