    • Design: Sami Vulli

A fairytale-like Finnish forest in the autumn and a bear picking berries – these two things define Sami Vulli’s beloved Otso pattern. There is something both strong and delicate in that combination. Perhaps this is the kind of visual fairy tale that adults also need in their busy lives.

This sleep bag features the Otso pattern in a new color. The light duvet and pillowcase are patterned, while the sheet is plain. The sleep bag is an innovation that represents everyday design at its best: a sheet, light duvet, and pillowcase all in one.

The sleep bag is designed for indoor use: a standard piece of equipment for big and small, which makes life easier for both the overnight guest and the host. The sleep bag is a perfect piece of spare equipment for the home, cottage, boat or camper van. Bring the sleep bag with you when you travel! The sleep bag fits in a small space and is easy to roll out at bedtime. Slip a pillow into the built-in pillowcase, and the sleep bag is ready for use. On the road, you can use a folded jumper as a makeshift pillow, for example.

In between trips, the sleep bag can be safely machine-washed at 60°C. The Otso sleep bag is made of high-quality, durable 100% organic linen cotton. Plain weave cotton is easy to care for, feels good on the skin, is durable and can be washed at high temperatures. The filling of the quilted light duvet is 100% polyester wadding. The top of the sleep bag has a pocket for a pillow. One of the long sides is open at the top to make it easier to slip into the bag. The bottom part is shaped like a bag and there is no zipper on the side. The trimmed edges make the sleep bag durable and give it a finished look.

Use the ribbons sewn into the lower edge to tie up the bag into a tight roll. Why the sleep bag? Finlayson’s first duvet covers were made in 1964. The duvet cover was a new product back then. At first, it was also called a blanket bag or sleep bag. The story goes that some of the first users slipped inside the duvet cover instead of under the duvet. That’s one way to do it. The design of duvet covers hasn’t changed much since then. In the Nordic countries, duvet covers without hand slits in the top, which make it easier to get the duvet inside the cover, have attracted the most attention. At Finlayson, we decided to approach the duvet cover with an open mind, learn more about its history and look at the product from a fresh perspective. The result is the sleep bag.
