Finlayson’s new collection Vegi takes home textiles into a new era. In addition to organic cotton, the Vegi products include naturally eco-friendly hemp. Best of all, all Vegi textiles are plant dyed.
If you love linen, hemp is well worth a try. Fabrics with hemp have a special, pleasant and luxurious feel that simply must be experienced hands-on! Hemp is similar to linen, and has been used for thousands of years in making textiles and clothing. Hemp is more high-yielding than flax, and hemp cultivation improves the quality of the soil. Washing and wearing makes hemp softer.
The chambray fabric for Vegi duvet covers is made using a traditional plain weave with a white warp thread and plant-dyed weft thread, giving the fabric a solid-colour look and a beautiful vivid mottled ingrain surface. The material contains 70% organic cotton and 30% hemp. The fabric thread count (TC) is 103 TC, which attests to the denseness of the fabric. Openings for hands at the top corners of the duvet cover make it easier to put the duvet cover on the duvet.
The traditional textile dyeing process inevitably consumes a lot of water and burdens the environment, which is why we actively seek alternatives to it. For now, plant dyeing is a fairly experimental method for bed and bath textiles due to the high demands for colour permanence in duvet covers that are washed frequently. That is why you should bear in mind the typical feature of plant-dyed products: the colours fade or even change somewhat the more the fabric is washed. The reddish colour for the duvet covers comes from rose madder roots and the brown from the myrobalan plant.
We do not compromise on the quality of the cotton or the transparency of the supply chain in the slightest. That is why we only use organic cotton. This product is made from organic cotton and is GOTS certified. The cultivation of GOTS-certified cotton makes more efficient use of rainwater and employs natural fertilisers and pesticides. Best of all, the GOTS certificate makes the organic cotton easily traceable. We can trace the whole path from field to the finished product.
Sleep well at night. The product comes with a five-year guarantee, and holds a STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certificate as well as a GOTS certificate. Together, these attest to the high quality and safety of the product and prove that it has been made from organic cotton. The certificates also guarantee that the product does not contain any harmful chemicals and is suitable for sensitive skin.
