Even though saunas cannot and must not be ranked, the historical significance of the sauna of Tamminiemi is obvious. Decisions that allowed saunas across Finland to remain peaceful and independent were probably made there. The most important aspect of the sauna – its mental side – was understood in Tamminiemi. Without a sauna, many troublesome situations would have remained unresolved, much love would have been left unsparked and many friendships would not have been formed in Finland.

Designed by Liisa Suurla, the Tamminiemi sauna product series is a tribute to sauna and reconciliation. The materials of the sauna textiles are as genuine and pure as we Finns at our best on the seats of a sauna.

The Tamminiemi rug features a beautiful surface structure whose classic design was inspired directly by the sauna in Tamminiemi; to be more precise, the fabulous patterning on the door handle of the sauna. The rug feels comfortably thick and warm under the feet, as it is combed 70% cotton and 30% linen.
